Housing

  • Zoning - no high rise facilities that overshadow community life
  • Equalization of taxation rates for co-op owners who currently bear an unfair tax burden
  • Will fight for fair water rates

Education

  • Supports smaller class sizes that make learning more productive
  • Will fight for funding for more after school programs and facilities for those programs
  • Supports charter schools but feels that freedom of choice within the public schools should be allowed
  • Supports more funding for special education classes

Local

  • Will fight for more municipal parking in the district
  • Supports the increase of funding to Senior Centers  Supports access to the inside of the Jerome Park Reservoir for walking and running
  • Will fight for additional resources for our local Police Departments
  • Supports the development of a pedestrian bridge that connects both sides of Van Cortlandt Park
  • Will develop a plan that increases and improves access to the Harlem and Hudson River waterfronts
  • Supports walkways along the various Bronx waterfronts

Reform in Government

  • Operate full service offices in the district to help residents find solutions to problems 
  • Form a local legislative committee of community volunteers to help shape legislation   
  • Supports cable telecasting of both Senate and Assembly sessions
  • Require personal and financial disclosure of candidates 
  • Supports an online digest of state spending
  • Supports campaign finance reform to promote fairness among candidates
